The Dynamo Senior Team were back in action last weekend at the 32nd Rushmoor Rosebowl. The Team led by Dynamo’s 2 senior girls Kelly Simm and Laura Edwards, were joined by Juniors Sophie Barber and Chloe Brebner and Espoir gymnast Amy Layzell, along with coaches Kerri Upton and Emma Beales.

In the Rosebowl’s 32nd year, a massive field of 20 teams entered, including club teams from across Britain, Regional Teams and National Teams. This put the Team in 5th place in the overall standings amongst teams from England, Ireland, South Africa and the Isle of Man.

In the Individual competition, Kelly Simm, a student at Itchen College placed 1st after putting in a strong all-around performance showing her consistency across all four events, with a score of 53.70. This also qualified her through to Sunday’s Individual Apparatus Finals on Bars (13.30), Beam (13.50), and Floor (13.70). Team mate Laura Edwards, a first year student at Southampton Solent University, in her first competition back after suffering injury, showed she is ready to step back into the big time posting the highest Beam score of the day with 13.90, qualifying her through to the final. Laura also qualified into the Bars Final with a score of 12.60. Chloe Brebner, a student at Ferndown Upper School, put in a clean performance to help the team into 3rd place posting an all-around score of 42.50, including a 12.25 for her stunning floor routine. Amy Layzell, a student at King’s School in Winchester, the youngest member of the team, posted an all-around score of 41.40, after competing her double back somersault for the first time. A fantastic weekend of competition for the Dynamo Team.
