Dynamo Girls take Regional Titles

Dynamo girls sprung back to the top of the Regional Rankings last weekend at the Southern Region Elite Championships. Having qualified earlier in the year, titles were up for grabs in the Senior, Junior & Espoir Challenge competition.

15 year old Chloe Brebner took the Senior Challenge Title with a score of 42.80 with the Gold on each apparatus; her floor exercise clearly a National standard routine with two double back salto’s and clean artistry.

15 year old Danielle Barnes took 3rd place in the Junior Challenge competition with a score of 39.80. Danielle competed an elegant floor routine including a double back somersault to take the Gold on Floor and Vault with the Silver on Bars. 14 year old Casey Spry who was returning to competition after a long period recovering from an ankle injury was delighted to take the Gold on Beam with a score of 10.80 for her solid, fluent routine that included all the required difficulty.

13 year old Amy Layzell was top of the score board in the Espoir Challenge Level, with 42.35 adding the Gold medal on Vault, Bars and Beam and the Silver on Floor. Team mate Leah Mitchell took the Silver medal all-around, after a disappointing Beam, scoring 39.30. However Leah showed her potential for the future with the gold medal on floor, along with the Silver on Vault, Bars and Beam.

The Elite Championships also acted as a qualifier for the British Apparatus Team Championships, being held in Stoke in September. Chloe Brebner, Casey Spry and Danielle Barnes have qualified to represent the Southern Region Team.

Head Coach Debbie Richardson said of the girls performance “These girls are capable of achieving high performance status. They are inconsistent in performance and have to gain more experience in the competition arena.”
