Regional Levels Competition

Last weekend, the Dynamo Girls Squad based at Hamble Community Sports College, travelled to Portsmouth Gymnastics Centre for the Regional Levels competition. With over 200 girls competing across the weekend from clubs from across the region, it was a busy 2 day competition. With 27 girls competing from Dynamo, we had representation in every round.

In Round 1, Isabelle Prinsep competed in the Level 3 Junior category. Isabelle had a fantastic all around competition despite falling from beam to finish 11th overall with an all around score of 46.15. Isabelle also finished 3rd on Vault with 12.35 for her tucked tsukahara.

Round 2, was the turn of the Level 5 Junior Girls. Tia Clarke finished with an all around score of 44.90 in 19th place. Tia also picked up a ribbon for 4th place on floor and 6th place on vault. Lily Harrington finished in 24th position with an all around score of 43.60. Bethan Light finished in 29th with 42.85, closely followed by team mate Talullah Sim in 30th with 42.00.

Katie Davis also competed in Round 2, in the Level 3 Senior age group. Katie finished with an all around score of 43.25 to finish in 7th position, also picking up 3rd place on Bars with 11.70.

Competition continued on Sunday morning, with Round 3. Victoria Baynes competed in the Level 3 In Age competition. Victoria finished in 10th position with an all around score of 37.80.
 
Next up was the Level 5 In Age girls. Lydia Sim finished in 27th with a score of 45.20, followed by team mate Vanita Smith in 28th with a score of 44.65. Molly Symonds finished in 30th position with 44.25. Ruby Webber finished with an overall score of 43.30 to finish in 39th position, followed by Olivia Francis in 40th with a score of 42.60.

Mia Thomas also competed in Round 4, in the Level 4 Senior age group. Mia finished in 7th position with an all around score of 45.10. Mia also picked up a ribbon for 4th place on Beam.

In Round 5, The Espoir, Junior and Senior Challenge Girls competed. In the Espoir age group, Tayah Askham finished in 2nd overall with an all around score of 45.00. Tayah won Gold on Bars with 10.15 for her new bar routine, and gained a ribbon for 4th place on Vault and 6th place on Beam and Floor. Leah Mitchell finished in 5th overall with 43.80. Leah won Gold on Vault with 13.10 for her Piked Tsukahara,  Silver on Floor and gained a ribbon for 4th place on Beam. Sydney Letchford finished in 8th overall with a score of 40.90. Sydney gained a ribbon for 5th position on Vault and Floor and 6th on Bars. Olivia Essex finished with an all around score of 40.60 finishing in 9th place. Olivia gained a Bronze medal for her Beam Routine with a score of 11.00. Ella Beattie-Edwards finished in 10th with a score of 37.95.

In the Junior age group, Casey Spry finished with 44.80 for 2nd overall. Casey won gold on Floor with 12.00, Silver on Beam, Bronze on Vault and a ribbon for 4th on Bars. Jessica Wells finished in 3rd position overall with an all around score of 44.40. Jessica finished 2nd on both Bars and Floor, 3rd on Beam and 4th on Vault. Amy Layzell finished in 4th position with 41.45. Amy won Gold on Vault with 13.35, Gold on Bars with 9.60 and gained a ribbon for 4th position on both Beam and Floor.

In the Senior category, Danielle Barnes was crowned Regional Champion with an all arounf score of 44.05. Danielle also won Gold on Vault with 13.15, and floor with 11.30. Danielle added two more Silvers to her collection on both Bars and Beam.

The final round of the competition was the turn of the Level 4 Juniors and Level 2 gymnasts. In the Level 4 Junior age group, Olivia Perry finished with an all around score of 42.85 to finish in 23rd position, Olivia gained a ribbon for 6th place on Vault. Team mate, Elise Blisset finished in 27th with a total score of 40.40.

In the Level 2 In age category, Amelie Priestman had a clean competition to finish in 5th position with an all around score of 44.50. Amelie also won Silver on Vault for her Tucked Tsukahara with 12.80, and gained a ribbon on Beam and Floor for 6th position. Tiger Weidner competed in the Level 2 Junior age group finishing with an all around score of 44.15, and taking 2nd place overall. Tiger added Gold on Floor with 11.60 and 3 more Silvers for Vault, Bars, and Beam. In the Level 2 Senior age group, Ellen Martin finished in 3rd place overall with an all around score of 43.70. Ellen finished 3rd on both Bars and Beam and gained a ribbon for 4th place on both Vault and Floor.

A very successful weekend for the Dynamo Women’s Artistic Squad, winning a total of 9 Gold, 12 Silver and 10 Bronze medals, along with 22 ribbons at this years Regional Championships.

Head of Women’s Artistic, Kerri Upton said of the girl’s performance, “Having had girls qualify to compete in every round at Regional’s shows our strength and depth in the Women’s Squad. The achievements from the weekend and the progress made throughout this competition season, gives us a lot of confidence heading into 2016.”
