Dynamo Boys Southern Region Qualifier

Dynamo School of Gymnastics Boys Squad based at Hamble Community Sports College travelled to Milton Keynes Gymnastics Centre along with their coaches Nathan Kitcher, Anthony Munday, Carol Munday and Helen Wilson, to compete in the Southern Region Qualifier. This competition allows the boys to qualify for a place in the Southern Region‘s Team who will compete in the National Finals later in the year at GMAC Birmingham.

Dynamo had representation from eleven boys competing across various levels in the Regional Qualifier. Starting with our youngest Pre Level 1 U8 Tom Harrison finished 13th, with an all around score of 47.75, in his first year of competitive gymnastics.

In the Level 1 Club Category, Sam Mould finished in 1st place, bringing home the gold medal with a score of 60.50. Team mate Kian Andrews placed 3rd with a score of 55.95, with Joe Wilson close behind in 4th scoring 55.80. All 3 Level 1 boys will be invited to the Regional Performance Pathway Camp where the final team selection will take place.

In the Level 2 club competition, Ben Fyvie–Rae finished in 6th place with an overall score of 56.60. Team mate Isaac Beattie-Edwards finished in 7th with 54.20, with Joe Guenier in 9th scoring 46.45.

In Level 3 club competition we had Sam Wilson in 2nd place overall scoring 60.80. Finley Hughes finished in 7th with a total score of 58.10. Wesley Wong finishing in 10th scoring 56.10 and Tom George in 12th scoring 54.10.

Our Elite Level 4 Gymnast Lyle Harry finished in the Silver medal position with a total score of 65.50 which will place him in the Elite National Final Team. In the Elite competition the boys must compete across 8 apparatus which also includes Physical and Artistic Preparation Routines as well as the common 6 apparatus.

All in all, a great weekend with achievements from all the boys. The boys will now need to continue the hard work we have put in over the past few months ahead of the Performance Pathway Camp and the National Finals in November.

Head Men’s Coach Nathan Kitcher said of the boys performance “The results of this weekend's competition show the progress of the boys squad and we look forward to the National Selection with confidence.”
