Hampshire In Age Levels Championships

Dynamo School of Gymnastics, based at Hamble Community Sports Complex, hosted the Hampshire In Age Levels Championships. Dynamo had representation from 18 girls, ranging from 8 to 16 years old.

In the Level 5 competition, girls turning 8 years old in the year of competition, Dynamo had 6 girls compete. Lydia Sim finished top for Dynamo in 10th position with an all-around score of 42.20. Molly Symonds finished in 13th with a score of 40.30. Close behind in 14th place was Olivia Francis with an all around score of 40.15. Vanita Smith and Ruby Webber finished in joint 18th with an all around score of 37.90 and Sabine Potter finished with 30.15 in 24th.

In the Level 3 competition, girls turning 10 in the year of competition, Victoria Baynes finished in 6th with an all around score of 39.45, and also taking 4th place on bars narrowly missing out on a medal position. Team mate Lila North finished in 7th with a score of 38.60. Lila finished in 4th on Vault again narrowly missing out on a medal position.

The Level 2 competition saw Amelie Priestman finish in 3rd place overall with a score of 40.55. Amelie also took the Bronze medal on Bars & Beam and the Silver medal on Vault & Floor.

Dynamo fielded 5 gymnasts in the Espoir Challenge competition. Sydney Letchford took the Espoir Title, after competing a clean competition, with an overall personal best score of 45.65. Sydney also took the Gold on Vault, and Silver on Bar, Beam & Floor. Team mate Tayah Askham also finished with a personal best all around score of 45.45, to take the silver medal overall. Tayah also finished 1st on Bars & Beam. In third position overall was Olivia Essex with an all-around score of 42.20. Olivia took the Bronze medal on both Vault & Bars. In 4th position Ella Beattie-Edwards finished with a total score of 39.70 and took the Bronze medal on Floor. Leah Mitchell competed 3 apparatus during the competion, medalling on all 3. Leah took 2nd place on Vault, 3rd place on Beam and won the Gold on Floor.

Dynamo had 3 gymnasts compete in the Junior Challenge competition, with Jessica Wells taking the Junior Title, after a strong all around performance, with a personal best of 44.25. Jess also took Silver on Bars, Gold on Beam and Bronze on Floor. Amy Layzell finished in 2nd overall with an overall score of 42.70. Amy also picked up the Gold medal on Vault & Bars and the Bronze medal on Beam. Casey Spry finished in 3rd overall with an all around total of 43.50, taking 3rd place on Vault & Bars, 2nd on Beam and Gold on floor.

Dynamo’s Senior gymnast took the Senior Title in the Senior Challenge competition with a personal best overall score of 45.00. Danielle also took the Gold medal on all 4 apparatus after a fantastic all around competition.

A fantastic weekend for the Dynamo Squad, who will now continue their preparation ahead of the Regional Championships which will take place in Portsmouth next month. Women’s Coach Kerri Upton said of the girls performance, “We’re really proud of how the girls competed this weekend, with more competitions coming up next month we will continue to build upon this weekend’s performance".
