Southern Region National & Compulsory Grades

Dynamo School of Gymnastics hosted the Southern Region National & Compulsory Grades this past weekend.

Dynamo had representation in every round of the competition, starting with our Compulosry 4 gymnasts in Round 1. The girls have been selected to compete in the Compulsory pathway, this pathway is the route through to the British Championships in years to come. The girls didn’t get off to the best start on Beam but held their nerve and continued into a good competition. Ella Mears placed 15th with a score of 45.05. Lydia Sim placed 16th with a score of 44.20, followed by team mate Molly Symonds in 17th with 43.65. Olivia Francis finished in 20th place with a score of 38.75. The girls did themselves proud, having put in a lot of hard work over the past couple of months, upping their skill level, strength and flexibility.

Our National Grade 3 girls competed in Round 2 with Lila North putting in a clean competition to finish in 11th position with an overall score of 58.35, passing her Grade with commendation. Victoria Baynes finished in 14th position with a score of 55.30 also passing her Grade with commendation. Team mate Elise Blissett also passed her Grade finishing in 16th position with an overall score of 53.25.
With a large entry in National Grade 4, the Dynamo girls were split across 2 rounds. Shannon Richards finished in 17th place overall with a total score of 58.95, passing her Grade with commendation. Shannon also received the Gold medal for her Handspring Vault with a score of 13.00 on this apparatus. Anabel Edem finished with an overall score of 58.10 passing her Grade with commendation with team mate Lily Harrington finished in 24th place with an overall score of 56.50 also passing with commendation. Emma Glasspool scored 56.05 in 25th place also passing with Commendation. Bethan Light finished in 26th position with 54.40 with Tallulah Sim close behind in 27th with 54.10.

In the final Round of Competition both the National 1 and Compulosry 5 gymnasts competed. Lucie Denton, in her first ever competition, competed a fantastic competition to pass her Compulosry Grade 5 with a score of 55.25, finishing in 12th position. Like our Compulosry 4 girls, Lucie put in a lot of hard work to enable her to compete in the Compulosry Grade. In National Grade 1, Tiger Weidner finished in 3rd place overall with a score of 57.10, passing her Grade with Commendation. Tiger also placed 1st on Vault and 3rd on Bars and Floor. This has qualified her into the Southern Region Team for National Finals next month. Team mate Isabelle Prinsep, finished in 5th position with a score of 55.95 also making the team for National Finals and passing her Grade with commendation. Isabelle placed 3rd on Vault and 2nd on Beam. Ellen Martin finished in 5th position passing her Grade with 51.95. Ellen also finished 2nd on Bars and R&C and will be the travelling reserve for next months National Finals.

A fantastic weekend for all the gymnasts from Dynamo who will now look forward to the Voluntary competition season.
