Dynamo School of Gymnastics travelled to the Rushmoor Gymnastics Academy for the 35th Rushmoor Rosebowl. The Rosebowl is an annual competition allowing Clubs, Regions and National teams to compete among each other.

With 20 teams from the various categories competing throughout the day, Dynamo competed in Round 2, starting their competition on Beam which can prove one of the most nerve racking starts. However the team held their own and got off to a fantastic start. Senior gymnast Danielle Barnes led the team with an all-around score of 46.35, putting her in 29th in the individual competition. Tayah Askham finished with an all-around total of 44.85, coming in 47th, and qualified as first reserve for the Beam final, a huge achievement amongst an international field of gymnasts. Team mate Jessica Wells scored 43.20, placing her in joint 57th. Olivia Essex finished in 65th with a total score of 42.30 and Leah Mitchell in 67th with 42.10, out of a massive field of 96 gymnasts. Our younger gymnast Elise Blisset had the opportunity to warm up along with the team and then cheered the team on throughout the competition. In the team competition, our top 4 scores on each apparatus were added together to give us a team total of 178.80, placing Dynamo in 5th position amongst the club teams and 12th amongst the entire field.

Dynamo gymnast, Kelly Simm also competed in the Rosebowl for Great Britain. Competing in the final round of competition, Kelly led Team GB to 1st place in the team event with a team total of 209.65. Kelly put in a fantastic performance to take the individual all-around Rosebowl Title with a score of 54.30. Kelly also received the Rosebowl for the highest score on any one apparatus, for her Vault score of 14.15. Kelly¹s performance qualified her through to all 4 apparatus finals the following day. In apparatus finals, Kelly competed 2 huge vaults, her first a Yurchenko 1/2 on, Straight Front 1/2 off for 14.40, and her second vault a Yurchenko full twist for 13.80. This gave her an average of 14.1 and her third Rosebowl title of the weekend. Onto Bars, Kelly swung cleanly through her routine for a score of 14.15 to place her 1st on this apparatus and claim her 4th title of the weekend. Kelly tried out her tricky new Round Off Straight Back connection on Beam to finish with a score of 12.85 for 4th position. Floor proved one apparatus too many on finals day after qualifying with a score of 13.70, Kelly unfortunately took a fall on finals day. A successful weekend for Kelly coming away from the championships with 4 Rosebowl titles, proving she¹s back and ready for the new cycle.

A fantastic weekend of competition for the Dynamo girls, who will now continue their preparation ahead of more competitions next month. "After disappointment this summer for the Olympic Games, Kelly has used this as a platform to show her new difficulty level ahead of next year. It was great for the Dynamo team to hold their own competing in an international, we hope this will inspire the girls ahead of next year."
