Pegasus Open, Maidstone

Dynamo School of Gymnastics travelled to Maidstone for the Pegasus Open along with coaches Kerri Upton, Emma Beales & Karen Paling and judge Sarah Sharkey.
The girls were using this competition as a chance to compete some new skills and routines ahead of their County Levels competitions.

In Round 1, our Level 5 gymnasts competed for the first time away from home. Megan Thorpe finished with an overall score of 40.30 placing 8th all around. Belinda Walker was close behind with 40.10 in 9th position. Olivia Learnihan finished with 36.94 in 14th, Kimberlee Bartholomew in 15th with 36.19 and Sarah Tidmus in 16th with 35.94. Olivia also picked up a special judges reward for her bar routine.

The Level 4 girls competed in Round 2, with Lucie Denton taking 1st place overall with a score of 43.65. Poppy Fletcher came 2nd with 41.75 with Kennedy Andrews in 3rd with 38.90. Lucy Glasspool was 4th with 38.85 and Lillia Smith in 6th with 38.20. Rio Gawne-Cain unfortunately picked up an injury in training before the competition but showed true grit and determination to compete on Beam & Floor. The apparatus medals were contented between all age groups of gymnasts, with Lucie Denton taking the Gold Medal on Vault with a massive score of 12.80.

Round 3 was the turn of our Level 3 gymnasts. In the In Age competition for gymnasts turning 10 in the year, Molly Symonds took the Gold medal all around with a score of 44.60. Team mate Lydia Sim was next with 42.55 taking the Silver medal. Ella Mears took 3rd place with 39.05 and Olivia Francis in 4th with 31.30 competing 3 apparatus here. In the 11/12 year old competition Anabel Edem finished 4th with 41.85, Emma Glasspool in 5th with 41.30, Bethan Light in 6th with 40.90, Talullah Sim in 7th with 40.45, Shannon Richards and Tianna Davis sharing 10th position with 39.50. In the apparatus competition again the two age groups were combined for medals. Molly Symonds took Gold on Vault with a score of 12.40 with Shannon Richards taking the Bronze medal with 12.20. Molly also took the Gold on beam after a solid routine scoring her 11.15. Tianna Davis took the bronze medal on Floor with 10.95.

In the final round of competition Dynamo had gymnasts competing in the Espoir Junior and Senior Categories. In the Espoir competition Elise Blissett finished 2nd overall with 39.00 all around also taking the Gold medal on Floor and Silver on Vault Bars & Beam. Team mate Lila North finished 3rd overall with 35.70 taking the Gold on Beam, Bronze on Vault and Bars and Silver on Floor.
In the Junior competition, Sydney Letchford finished 1st overall with 40.85 taking the Gold on both Bars & Silver on Beam. Isabelle Prinsep finished 2nd overall with 39.40 taking joint Gold on Vault, and Bronze on Floor. Tiger Weidner finished 3rd overall with 38.70 sharing the Golf on Vault and taking the Bronze on Bars. Olivia Essex competed just 2 pieces, claiming the Gold on Vault with 12.40 Team mate Ella Beattie-Edwards took an unfortunate fall on her first apparatus on her new routine so was unable to finish the competition.

In the Senior competition, Jessica Wells finished 2nd overall with a total score of 43.25, also taking 2nd position on all 4 apparatus. Team mate Ellen Martin finished 4th overall with 37.15 taking 3rd place on floor.

A fantastic weekend for the Team Dynamo girls squad who picked up medals and judges prizes across all age groups. The girls will now continue their preparation for Hampshire Levels. Head of Women’s Artistic said of the girls performance, “For the girls first voluntary competition of the season, the competition served as a chance to put out new skills and test their routines in a friendly competition. The success will give them a real buzz heading into future competitions. We’re extremely proud of the whole squad and look forward to the future”.
