Dynamo Boys do SUPER at Southern Region Championships

Dynamo School of Gymnastics Boys Squad travelled to Portsmouth Gymnastics Centre at the weekend along with their coaches Nathan Kitcher and Anthony Munday, to compete in the Southern Region Championships. This competition allows the boys to perform their best skills in routine and find a ranking within the Southern Region‘s best gymnasts. It is also a future guide to where they stand nationally.

In the U14 F.I.G competition, Lyle Harry finished in 1st place overall having an outstanding day finishing with a score of 68.20. Adding to his Gold medal all around, Lyle also finished 1st on the most difficult apparatus the Pommel Horse scoring 11.40. He took the silver medal on Parallel Bars with a new routine scoring 12.30. To finish things off Lyle took two bronze medals on Floor and Rings with scores of 12.20 and 11 dead.

Team mate Samuel Wilson in his first year of U14 competition finished in a very credible 7th place. Sam did a fantastic job performing new upgraded routines and also earning himself a bronze medal on Vault with a total score of 11.80.

Dynamo’s Oldest Gymnast in the Senior Men’s Competition, Simon Duncan, finished 1st on his specialist piece of apparatus the Rings with a total score of 10.20. 

In the U12 Development competition, Joe Wilson finished in 8th position scoring 64.85. Isaac Beattie-Edwards took 10th place overall scoring 63.65 with a silver medal on Horizontal Bar. Team mate Samuel Mould finished just behind Isaac in 11th position with an all round score of 63.50. Kian Andrews finished in 14th place with a total score of 60.45 with a 3rd place achievement on Vault with a score of 11.25. Rory Tidmus secured 15th place with an overall score of 60.45. Ben Fyvie-Rae took 16th place with a total score of 58.55. This age group of gymnasts are working very well together and we are finding them growing in confidence and striving to achieve new goals that have now been set.

The U16 competition saw Wesley Wong who had an outstanding competition take the all round silver medal with a total score of 62.85. Wesley had a fantastic competition also taking a few individual medals including two silver medals one on Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar with both scores at 10.60. Wesley took home the Bronze medal on Rings with a total score 10.30.

Our youngest gymnast in the U8 category Jude Routledge who finished 4th, with an all around score of 64.65. This was his first year of competitive gymnastics. Jude was also 4th on Rings scoring 10.60. 

In the U9 Development Category, Lucas Jones finished his first Regional competition in 15th with a total score of 52.30.

The next category we had a new member to our squad, Joshua Coomer in 9th with an all round score of 67.00 with team mate Tom Harrison finishing in 10th place with a total score of 66.60. Tom also took home a Silver medal for his new floor routine that awarded him a score of 11.95.

All Dynamos’ young gymnasts did a fantastic job achieving all their goals and are now ready to work towards their next big event.
All in all, a great weekend with achievements from all the boys. The boys will now need to continue the hard work we have put in over the past few months ahead of the Southern Region Qualifier Competition in September.
