Dynamo School of Gymnastics, based at The Hamble School, travelled to Surrey Sports Park for the Adrian Stan British Team Championships. As was one of a handful of clubs with 2 teams entered in the prestigious event, led by their coaches Keith & Debbie Richardson, Kerri Beaven and Emma Beales.
Dynamo’s Junior Team started their competition on Beam the most nerve wracking of events, the young team got of to a good start with Rio Gawne-Cain showing some beautiful lines and Molly McNaugher finishing the round with a clean routine. Moving to floor, the team put out Double back somersaults with Emma Glasspool and Bethan Light both landing their routines and scoring over 11.0. Moving onto Vault the team had 4 solid Vaults, with 11 year-old Lucie Denton starting the Team off with a Tucked Tsukahara, Team mate Emma Glasspool finished the job with a solid Straight Yurchenko for 12.50. The final apparatus Bars, the team had a couple of unfortunate falls but pulled together as a Team to post a total score of 125.40 to place 16th in the Junior Team category.
Dynamo’s Senior Team led by GB gymnast Kelly Simm started their competition on Floor, with Elise Blissett starting the team off with a solid routine scoring 12.30. Kelly Simm also posted a massive 13.5. Onto Vault the Team counted two massive Straight Yurchenko’s, 12.35 for Emily Burke and 12.55 for Tayah Askham, Kelly then added a 13.55 to the team total. Moving to Bars, Dynamo’s youngest team member Molly Symonds posted a 10.65 catching her release and regrasp skill with ease. Kelly Simm posted yet another 13+ routine to finish the rotation strongly. Moving to the final piece for Dynamo, the girls finished strongly counting just 1 fall between them. Kelly Simm finished with 13.2 and a total all around score of 53.55 to win the individual title and a fantastic showing to the World Championships team selectors. The Senior Team finished with a total of 144.90 and 5th place, the highest placing for Team Dynamo for many years.
