Dynamo School of Gymnastics hosted the Hampshire In Age Levels Championships this past weekend, with over 40 girls and their coaches Debbie Richardson, Kerri Beaven, Emma Beales, Karen Paling, Chloe Brebner, Casey Spry, Olivia Essex and Ella Beattie-Edwards, representing Team Dynamo which is based at The Hamble School.
Starting with the youngest competitors, competing in their first County competition, our Pre-Level 5 girls all of which turn 7 this year. Maci Poulton placed 5th on Vault and 4th on Floor, with Hadeya Nazari placing 5th on Beam and 6th on Floor. Also competing were Matilda Symonds, Willow Williams, Ligaya Labourn, Gracie Rutherford, Jessica Ley, Phoebe Vincent, Ella Swete, Emelia Russel, Freya Gharibian, Lexie-Mae Little, Emily Clark, Mya Balcombe and Thea Shirley.
In the Level 5 competition, for gymnasts turning 8 in the year, Iyana StCroix put in a fantastic performance to place 4th overall with a score of 42.45. Iyana picked up second place on Vault, 5th on Bars and 6th on Floor. Sophia Scappaticci placed 7th overall with an all-around score of 41.05, placing 6th on Vault. Teammate Hattie Jenner was close behind in 8th place with 40.90 with Betsy Jones in 9th with 40.00. Sophie Read-Jones placed 11th overall with a total score of 39.65. Sophie also picked up the Bronze medal on Beam. Jessica Green placed 13th with 39.15, Lily Kimber was 15th with 35.85, Amelia Harvey-Gutteridge was 17th with 32.90 and Eloise Worwood was 18th with 30.80.
In the Level 4 competition, Chaia Rubenstein put in a solid performance to place 3rd overall with a massive all-around total score of 46.80, also placing on all apparatus with 6th place on Vault, and 3rd on both Bars and Beam. Chaia won Gold on Floor for her new beautifully executed bubbly floor routine. A fantastic result for the youngster who doesn’t turn 9 until the end of the year. Isadora Turner placed 7th overall with a score of 41.65, placing 3rd on Vault, and 6th on both Bars and Floor, with Teammate Mabel Dove placing 8th overall with a total score of 39.50.
Harriett Kendell competed in the Level 3 competition placing 7th overall with a total score of 41.15. Harriett picked up the Silver medal on both Bars and Floor is this category, for 2 clean routines.
In the Level 2 competition, Lucie Denton placed 4th overall with a total score of 40.85. Lucie competed new skills on all apparatus to place 3rd on Vault, 6th on Bars, 5th on Beam and 3rd on Floor. Poppy Fletcher placed 6th overall with a total score of 40.55, putting in some well executed performances to place 4th on Bars, 3rd on Beam and 5th on Floor. Kennedy Andrews placed 7th overall with 37.35, placing 5th on Bars. Lucy Glasspool was 8th overall with 36.75, placing 5th on Vault and 6th on Beam. Belinda Walker finished in 9th position with a total of 35.00.
The final round of competition was the turn of the Espoir, Junior and Senior girls. Dynamo had the most girls within the county in these age groups showing our depth and strength at the club.
In the Espoir Challenge Category, Emma Glasspool had a fantastic competition to be crowned the Espoir Challenge Champion with a big all-around total of 44.65, also placing 1st on Beam and Vault, for her high straight Yurchenko. Emma added 3rd on Bars and 4th on Floor to her collection. Teammate Molly McNaugher was 2nd overall with a total score of 43.55. Molly placed 5th on Vault, 2nd on Beam and took Gold on both Bars and Floor. Bethan Light completed a clean sweep of the podium for Team Dynamo in this category, placing 3rd with 43.25. Bethan joined Molly in joint 1st position on Bars and placed 4th on Vault, 3rd on Beam and 2nd on Floor. Rio Gawne-Cain finished in 5th overall with a total score of 41.55. Rio placed 3rd on both Vault and Floor, 5th on Bars and 4th on Beam.
Molly Symonds competed in the Espoir Elite category, having qualifyed as an Elite gymnast through her Compulsory Grades earlier this year. Molly placed 3rd overall with a total score of 44.05. Molly placed 2nd on both Vault and Floor and 3rd on Bars and Beam, having successfully caught her new release and regrasp skill on Bars.
In the Junior Challenge competition, Elise Blissett scored a total of 40.45 to place 3rd overall. Elise placed 3rd on Bars and 2nd on Vault Beam and Floor.
In the Senior Challenge competition, teammates Emily Burke and Isabelle Prinsep thought closely throughout the competition. Emily was crowned the Senior Challenge Champion with a score of 42.40, placing 1st on Vault Bars and Beam and 2nd on Floor. Isabelle was close behind in 2nd with a total of 42.1 placing 2nd on Vault Bars and Beam and 1st on Floor.
Tayah Askham competed in the Senior Elite competition, having qualified as an Elite gymnast through the National Challenge Cup back in 2017. Tayah finished with a solid all-around total of 45.65 to be crowned Hampshire Champion for the second year running. Tayah also received Gold on all four apparatus, with two big individual scores of 12.00 on bars and 12.25 on Beam.
A fantastic weekend for the Dynamo Girls Squad with 3 newly crowned Hampshire Champions and many all around and apparatus medallists. Head of Performance Kerri Beaven said of the weekends performances “It was great to see a hard-working summers training pay off today across all the levels. Dynamo continues to show our strength and depth within the county, with some great performances across all levels.” The Dynamo girls will continue the hard work as this is just the beginning of the competition season with the Adrian Stan Team Championships and Regional Levels fast approaching.
